The Carroll County Public Library is pleased to present Chelsey Green and The Green Project at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 23 at the Carroll Arts Center. Performing music described as "Classical: Shaken and Stirred," Chelsey Green and The Green Project give the violin an electrifying new voice and bring the tone, richness and vibrancy of acoustic violin to Jazz, Soul, and R&B. Selected as one of six Artists-in-Residence for the 2010-2011 season at the Music Center at Strathmore, Chelsey Green and The Green Project have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, and venues across the nation.

This program is made possible through funding from Comcast, and the Maryland Humanities Council in support of the One Maryland One Book Program. The 2012 book selection is The Cellist of Sarajevo, by Steven Galloway. The novel is based on true events that occurred during the bombing of Sarajevo, when a defiant young musician played his cello at the site of a mortar attack for twenty-one days, in memory of his fallen friends and neighbors. His music draws together members of the community trying to survive the ravages of war. Stop by and check out a copy at the library.
