Carroll Emergency Operation Center Activated, Shelters Available

Carroll County is gearing up for Hurricane Sandy.

The Carroll County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is fully activated as of 11 a.m. Sunday October 28. Below is important information residents should know and use over the coming days:  

  • The phone number into the EOC that citizens should use to access information and make nonemergency requests is 1-888-5-GET EOC (1-888-543-8362)
  • Important information and updates may be found at: www.facebook.com/CCOPSSSccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/default.asp
  • Cable Channels 19, 23 and 24 will deliver news

Emergency Shelters

Effective at 7 p.m. Sunday, Carroll County will be opening 2 emergency shelters located at:

  • Century High School, 355 Ronsdale Road, Sykesville     
  • Winters Mill High School, 560 Gorsuch Road, Westminster 

At the shelters, visitors will be provided with a cot, blanket, and shelf stable food. Shelter visitors are being asked to bring any other personal items including:

  • All Medications
  • Pillows
  • Towels
  • Change of clothing
  • Snacks/ drinks, 
  • if you wish, Books/board games
  • Any personal care items (toothbrush, soap, feminine supplies, diapers and formula)

Anyone who is dependent upon special medical or nursing care MUST bring a caregiver with them to the shelter as well as any medical devices necessary.

I don't live in your district and I am not a member of your party. I have watched you during yourRead More meetings with the commissioners and you handle things very well. You have a balance of private and public sector experience which is a necessary background to have to guide the county. It will be nice to have a competent person with your qualifications to run against someone who is totally unqualified but never had any opposition in the last election. Now she will have to attend the voter forums and explin her views and positions. Let the chips fall where they may. The emperor will have no clothes.

She chose to miss every one last time, so she did not have to answer questions on her positions and her horrible record the first time around in 1998-2002. She will try to do that again to get re-elected.

Folks who've been around Carroll County for a while know the answer: there is no relation. She just tacked that on when she decided to run the first time. It may be her maiden name - or not - but she has never bothered to answer the question. She just let folks assume there is a connection, and lots of folks fell for it.
