Daily Dose June 3: 4,000 Miles, Lunch Concert, Graduation

Patch has gathered five very important (or completely trivial) pieces of information to help you start your day.

>> Number worth noting: 4,000. This is how many miles McDaniel College student Christopher Bolesta will be biking over the next fifty some days. He is biking in the 4K for Cancer event, an event in which people bike across county to raise awareness and money in the fight against cancer. Learn more about Christopher's journey here

>> Weather forecast: If you thought yesterday was perfect weather, you'll be happy to hear that today will be very similar. Weather Underground reports that we can expect sunny weather with temps in the upper 70s today. Saturday and Sunday will be lovely as well with temps ranging from the upper 70s to the lower 80s with thunderstorms possible.

>> Westminster High School and Winters Mill High School will both graduate their seniors this weekend at McDaniel College. Westminster's graduation ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Winters Mill is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

>> Another reason Westminster is such a great little town to live in: the Lunch at the Library Concert Series. The concerts are in front of the Westminster Library  every Friday at noon during the month of June. This is a free event and today The Herd of Main Street will be playing.

Call it soul, rock, country, blues, or just call it American, but the music of The Herd of Main Street is guaranteed to get hips a-shaking, feet a-tapping, heads a-bobbing, and hands a-clapping, a news release promises.

>> There is so much going on this weekend--Art in the Park, Antique Fire Equipment Parade, Strawberry Festivals (see the Patch Event Listings for more details), but something everyone should check out is the Downtown Westminster Farmer's Market. These folks grow and produce the foods and goods they are selling. It's not all shopping either, there will be a cooking demonstration as well. Don't miss out on this great event that will take place from 8 a.m. until noon at Rt. 27 and Emerald Hill Lane.
