Free Mulch Available at County Landfill

Carroll County residents can get free mulch at Northern Landfill.

Carroll County government offers free mulch from the Northern Landfill.

bans yard trimmings from being mixed with household waste for disposal. Residential segregated yard trimmings are accepted, loose or in paper lawn bags (you may empty bags and reuse), at no charge at the Northern Landfill, 1400 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster and Saturdays  and at the Hoods Mill Landfill, 7901 Kabik Court, Woodbine, (open the first and third Saturday only of the month).

Commercial businesses are charged $20 per ton for acceptable yard trimmings. Acceptable yard trimmings include: grass, leaves, shrub and tree trimmings up to 8’ in length and 4” in diameter. Accepted materials are mulched and made available to County residents at no charge.

Mulch is available year-round at the Northern Landfill. Come prepared to self-load and wear appropriate clothing. The mulch is a natural wood product and may contain allergens. The mulch is not recommended for use around shallow rooted plants, flower or vegetable gardens.
