Why Go: Sink into the laughter and tears engendered by the1993 movie that capture’s Rudy Ruettiger’s life story and then meet “Rudy.” His life journey has been riddled with struggles linked to undiagnosed dyslexia as well as the joy of meeting people who mentored him along the way. This former collegiate football player is now a motivational speaker. He will captivate you.  Ticket price includes Meet & Greet and autographed poster  (and popcorn, candy, beverage). Community Yard Sale

When: Saturday, May 14, 8 a.m.

Where:  Belle Grove Square, Westminster

Why Go: Talk to friends and neighbors while shopping at what organizers are calling a “ginormous” yard sale. Families beyond the streets that border the park are participating. Bring big and small bills and bags to carry away your treasures.

 

Farmer’s Market Plant Sale

When: Saturday, May 14, 8 a.m. – noon

Where: Conaway Parking Lot (corner of Railroad Ave and Emerald Hill Lane

Why Go: A visit to this market is a great way to start the morning. Mingle, pick up ingredients for the week’s recipes and pamper yourself with a few treats.  Flower, herb and vegetable plants will be available for purchase, along with other products in season.

 

Celebrate Hope

When: Sunday, May 15, 4 p.m.

Where:  Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main Street

Why Go: Join The Shepherd’s Staff 20th Anniversary Celebration and listen to some amazing music performed by Peggy Brengle and Don Horneff. The event will feature a history of Shepherd Staff and refreshments.

Masterworks Chorale Concert

When:  Sunday, May 15, 7 p.m.

Where: Big Baker Memorial Chapel, McDaniel College

Why Go:  Enjoy the powerful sounds created by this 80-member choir directed by Dr. Margaret Boudreaux. The group will perform Haydn's The Creation in collaboration with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra.  Guest organist is Ted Dix.
