Get Ready for 6 More Weeks of Winter According to Punxsutawney Phil

Yesterday, Feb. 2 marked Groundhog Day and six more weeks of winter, according to the tradition.

At sunrise yesterday, the famed Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow and witnessed his own shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter in the United States.

According to custom, if the groundhog sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If the day is cloudy and he doesn’t see his shadow, then the groundhog stays above ground, anticipating early spring weather.
