Fun things to do around town with your family this weekend.

Below are five events to entertain you and your kids:

1. 2011 Annual Random House Book Fair

Find out what's happening in Westminsterwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/when: Carroll Community College, Westminster. Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.

Why go: Two days of activities including viewings of the movie "Tangled," free children's books, silent auction, 20 percent discount on new book sales and more. Enjoy activities with your children while helping to raise money for student scholarships at Carroll Community College.

Pricing: Movie tickets for "Tangled" are $3 per person, admission fee will be charged for the kids activity area.

Where/when: Hashawha Environmental Center, Westminster. Sunday, March 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: A pancake brunch, activities featuring maple syrup demonstrations and tastings, craft vendors and new this year an artist skilled in chainsaw carving. There will be an indoor activity area for children and living history programs at the Martin log cabin. Truly something for everyone.

Pricing: $3 admission per vehicle, $4 per person pancake brunch, food and maple items available for purchase, $1 per child for face painting.

3. Boy Scout Troop 380 - 25th annual Scout Auction

Where/when: Snyder's Auction House, 4112 Mot Ave., Hampstead; Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. 

Why go: Check out the items that will be auctioned off here. All proceeds will help the Scouts attend summer camp, purchase much needed equipment, and help adopt less fortunate families within the community during the holidays. Homemade refreshments and desserts will be available. 

Pricing: Free to attend.

Where/when: Marriott, Hunt Valley. Sunday, March 6 performances will be held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Why go: Listen to the performances of students from across Maryland that have been selected by audition for the honor of participating in the Maryland All State Choruses.

Prices: $10 tickets may be purchased at the door.

Where/when: Carroll County Agriculture Center, Westminster. Friday, March 4 and Saturday March 5.

Why go: Watch participants in the 2011 VEX Robotics Mid-Atlantic Championship competition. You and your children can watch the talented high school and middle school teams compete in the intense qualification matches and cheer on students as they face elimination matches and award ceremonies.

Price: Free admission.
