Musings of Your Local Patch Editor

Find out what your local editor is thinking about this week.

I'm your Patch local editor and I will be posting an Editor's Notebook on Mondays. In this column I will look at stories coming up for the week, reflect on the weekend, highlight important dates and share information about my life as a Patch editor. Feel free to share your thoughts on my musings in the comments below.

9/11

Find out what's happening in Westminsterwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Tuesday is Sept. 11. It's difficult to believe that it was 11 years ago that planes were hijacked and American lives lost in Washington, Pennsylvania and New York. I remember feeling a true sense of being an American in the months and years following 9/11 and sometimes when I watch the political shenanigans taking place in Washington DC, it makes me wonder why it took such incredible tragedy for the country to come together like it did. Help Patch celebrate America by sharing in the comment section below one thing you appreciate most about being an American.

City Council Meeting

Westminster's Mayor and Common Council are scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. this evening at City Hall. This is a special meeting time as the meetings usually take place at 7 p.m. They are scheduled to revisit a discussion on CDA bonds. Visit the city of Westminster website to see the agenda.

Ravens Monday

The Baltimore Ravens kick off their season tonight at 7 p.m. versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Take a guess on the final score in the comments below and tell us where you'll be watching the game. I'll be watching the game (thank you mayor and city council for moving the meeting to 5:30 p.m.) with my 7-year-old son who is a sports junkie and will be able to inform me of new players and game strategy.

Westminster Fallfest

It's September and in Westminster that means it's time for Westminster Fallfest. Mark your calendar now for Fallfest events. Fallfest kicks off with a parade on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. and then downtown festivities will take place through Sept. 30. Patch will have a booth at Fallfest on Saturday, Sept. 29, stop by for a visit. Check out the Fallfest website for more details.
