National Weather Service: Two Tornados Confirmed in Carroll County

The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Carroll County Friday afternoon.

At least two tornadoes touched down in Friday afternoon as severe weather hit the state.

The Washington Post reported that nine tornadoes touched down in six counties across Maryland during Friday's storm.

, June 1, forced to keep students an hour and a half past normal dismissal time. There were also power outages across the area as high winds and heavy rain hit. After the tornado warnings were lifted, Carroll County was placed under a flash flood warning.

Between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., two tornadoes touched down around Damascus in Montgomery County according to a Baltimore Sun article.

The National Weather service reports that Carroll County had two tornadoes. The first, at about 2:48 p.m., had a maximum width of 100 yards and hit an area southeast of Mount Airy.

Thirty minutes later, a second tornado touched down in Gamber, leaving the four-mile path. Its maximum width was 150 yards.

A tornado hit Howard County at 2:52 p.m.touching down east of Mount Airy and leaving a 1.4-mile path of destruction, according to the Baltimore Sun.
