Carroll County’s first annual Restaurant Week is just around the corner.
Beginning Aug. 21 and lasting through Aug. 28, the celebration will feature fixed price menus at several of the city's premier local eateries.
Sponsored by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and the Carroll County Department of Economic Development and Tourism Office, the county’s restaurant week is the brainchild of local restaurant owners Dante Liberatore and Ken Lurie. Since its inception many Westminster restaurant chefs have been gearing up for the event by assembling their menus.
Read below find out which city restaurants are participating as well as some of what each eatery plans to serve. With steak, salmon, gelato and crab cakes on the menus, this is one food coma you won’t want to avoid.
Birdie’s Café, 233 East Main St.: For $10.11, the café will offer a variety of combination deals such as a hummus or guacamole plate that comes with a large tea or coffee (hot or cold).
Giulianova Groceria & Italian Deli, 11 East Main St.: Two separate menus are planned for lunch and dinner. For lunch, the eatery will offer up its “Choptank River” jumbo lump crab cakes with coleslaw and chips for $15.11. For dinner, the restaurant is offering a take home spaghetti dinner for four.
The Greene Turtle, 830 Market St.: The eatery will allow diners to choose between two deals. The first deal includes an appetizer and one sandwich, salad or entrée for $15.11. The other deal for $20.11 includes an appetizer, a sandwich, salad, or entrée along with a dessert.
Gypsy’s Tea Room, 11 Stoner Avenue: Who says tea and scones are reserved for the rich? For $20.11, the eatery is offering a lengthy menu comprising three courses and bottomless royal tea.
65 W. Main St.: For lunch diners can choose from a variety of sandwiches, salads and stir fry menu items such as the cajun tilapia sandwich, which will be offered with a drink. Meanwhile for dinner diners get an appetizer and two entrees for $15.11. Such entrees include pesto penne and chicken Alexandra.
Johansson’s Dining House, 4 W. Main St.: For lunch diners can choose from artisanal pizza, fish and chips, bangers and mash or curried chicken with rice, while for dinner the refined offerings include salmon, filet mignon, or crab cakes.
Liberatore’s Ristorante & Catering, 140 Village Shopping Center: For $25.11, diners can choose an appetizer such as calamari or bruchsetta, and pair it with an entre such as shrimp scampi sautéed in white wine sauce with garlic and parmesan cheese, served over linguine while dessert includes chocolate Oreo cake.
Maggie’s Restaurant, 310 E. Green St.: Besides a stacked lunch menu comprising appetizers such as crab dip and Maggie’s mushrooms, dinner comprises a four course meal for $30.11 with a variety of offerings such as sirloin steak and turtle pie on the menu.
O’Lordans Irish Pub, 14 Liberty St.: It isn’t an Irish pub without bangers & mash. Such an entrée is available for lunch while for dinner entrees include rockfish and duck marsala.
Paradiso Ristorante, 20 Distillery Rd.: For $20.11, diners can choose from a variety of combinations such as a first course of Italian wedding soup, a Caesar salad for the salad course, veal for an entrée and gelato for dessert.
Rafael’s Restaurant, 32 W. Main St.: The eatery will offer its guest a three-course meal with various options. Such offerings include mussels for a starter, New York Strip for an entrée, along with a variety of desserts.
Participating restaurants in other parts of the county include Salerno’s Restaurant, New York J&P Pizza, Liberatore’s Ristorante & Catering (Eldersburg), Grilled Cheese & Company, and The County Cork Wine Pub.
