Thunderstorms Expected Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued the following weather outlook.

The National Weather Service is reporting that thunderstorms might develop Wednesday along a cold front expected to cross the region.

Much of Maryland, including Carroll and Howard counties, is under a hazardous weather outlook for Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The chance of thunderstorms is for after 2 p.m. in Carroll County.

The hazardous outlook follows severe weather in Maryland Tuesday.

Severe storms passed through Harford and Baltimore counties Tuesday night, bringing with them lightning, hail, high winds and tornado warnings.

The Baltimore County Police Department caused by a lightning strike, in the Parkville area on Tuesday night. There were no injuries.

Nearly 3,000 BGE customers are without power as of Wednesday, the bulk of those concentrated in Baltimore City and County.

In Howard County, residents are invited to talk about how utilities have responded to power outages, specifically, the ones that occurred after the June 29 derecho storm.

The Public Service Commission hearing will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the  in Ellicott City. Other hearings are scheduled for Baltimore on Tuesday, Aug. 14; and Towson, on Thursday, Aug. 16.
