Weekend Events Canceled in Anticipation of Hurricane

Patch will continue to update this list of cancelations as the storm gets closer.

In anticipation of potentially hazardous weather this weekend, local organizations have already started to cancel weekend events. Please let us know if there are additional cancelations to add to this list.

  • Emergency Preparedness Expo
    Due to the potential for hazardous weather this weekend, the Emergency Preparedness Expo scheduled for Aug. 27 at Lowe's has been canceled. 
  • Maryland State Parks
    The Maryland Park Service will close most state park campgrounds and day-use areas over the weekend. State Park day-use areas, including picnic shelters and all other park facilities, east of Washington County will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, August 27-28. Day-use areas affected by this closure include: Janes Island, Pocomoke River, Tuckahoe, Martinak and Wye Island State Parks on the Eastern Shore. Also included are Cunningham Falls, Gambrill, Greenbrier, Washington Monument, Gathland, Seneca Creek, Patapsco Valley, Soldiers Delight, Gunpowder Falls, North Point, Susquehanna, Rocks, Fair Hill, Elk Neck, Sandy Point, Rosaryville, Cedarville, Smallwood, Calvert Cliffs, Greenwell and Point Lookout State Parks.   • Carroll Community College
    Carroll Community College will be closing at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, and will be closed all day Sunday, Aug. 28 All activites are cancelled during those times. Please check  www.carrollcc.edu for more information.

 

  • Carroll County Board of Education
    All school system activities and community sponsored activities scheduled to be held at Carroll County Public School System facilities have been canceled beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Aug. 28. We will evaluate the situation on Monday, Aug. 29 and any future decision will be announced at that time. Visit www.carrollk12.org for more information.
