Forget What Is Gone And Look Forward To Good Things Coming

There was a movie out in the theaters with Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones. It is about a couple married for thirty-one years and they are trying to recapture their intimacy sexually and also as a couple who are good friends in every sense of the word. It has gotten good reviews and I saw the two of them on The View the other day. He is quiet and acts like he is a bit bored being there, but in a nice and casual manner that makes you still like and respect his acting abilities. She is a very humble lady, has four children and when asked how she did all this acting, she replied that she had lots of people helping her. She meant, I guess, in the raising and taking care of her kids, but her two daughters are into acting themselves, so she surely did a fine job. They did not resent her absences doing her work and now they want to emulate her profession themselves.

It is nice when children look up to their parents and it is a parent’s joy to note that. Some do not and let their parents know of this and that is acceptable. I know of a woman who was the most wonderful daughter to her good mom and came from out of town, dozens of times to be there for her mom in a different city to help out in bad situations or for her health needs. She had to leave her job and be unpaid for her not working at it; but she felt it her job to assist mom who was in an assisted living residence already.

She lost lots of income and loved her mom a lot and her mom loved her. However, when things were squared away with her and her sibling, the mom had left a considerable amount to the sibling in this one monetary item. It was probably about seventy-five thousand dollars and though the rest was split up equally between the two sisters; the extra caring sister Vanessa felt Mom had done her wrong. She was the one who lost income, lost time, drove two hundred mile to settle problems for her Mom and the sister lived in Colorado, and came in only twice or three times a year to help with a problem, if the other sister requested it. She also had two huge dogs and no one would take care of them so she had to run to the kennel to board the dogs every time the assisted living facility called her that her mom had a health problem.

She thinks that her mom thought the other sister would need the money more than the one who did all the work on her behalf. She loved her Mom, but resented this lot. She felt it was like a bit of a stab in her heart, since she was the one who did everything for her Mom in the twelve years she resided in an assisted living residence. The sibling was startled when she got the extra money, but did not offer any of it to the other one, when the other one had lots of expenses in travel from her home from far away, lost wages and etc.

So that was it, it was not right; the mother I guess did not realize how the better daughter would feel when she heard about the leaving of her pension fund to the other daughter.

I know of someone who has a daughter who only visits her every other week and she is satisfied with it because they never really were close. She is happy to see her whenever she comes to her condo of seniors. This is the way she expected it would be and it is and she is happy with this setup.

When it comes to serious things like this, everyone gets involved and gets upset. It is hurting the above mentioned daughter, she got over it, it happened five years ago and she knows in her heart and soul that even though the mom did not leave her half of that pension fund and she deserved it; life goes on and she was a good child to her mom. Mom just made a mistake when she put down on her beneficiary papers, the leaving of the whole sum to the other daughter. Maybe, she felt that the other one needed or would require it more, though the first one had been widowed and left with two daughters of her own to raise without her beloved husband. Things get mixed up sometimes, sometimes through no fault of our own and people get hurt in the process.

There is a good saying that I read online on someone’s Facebook. It goes like this: “To be happy, you just have to forget what’s gone and appreciate what still remains and look forward to the good that’s coming next.” It is excellent in my opinion, I do not know who wrote it, but that person had the right thoughts, though it is hard to do.

Appreciate what remains for as long as you are able and look forward to the good that is coming next. You never know what wonderful event will happen in your life, today, tomorrow, next year. Be happy to be here and to be able to experience it.   Be is the operative word, let us be always expecting good things, happy things and most of all healthy things coming our way in this long road and journey called our life. Be there for your loved ones and you will be the one who is revered by yourself, because you are honorable, even if sometimes, others around you are not. That is what counts in the long run, you have respect for you and your life and the way you lived it.
