Blog: I had a dream.

This blogger's quest to pursue her dream is nothing short of fulfilling.

I'm going to quote the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and say, "I have a dream!" Well, I did have a dream and it came true. Okay, okay, maybe I am being a little dramatic but man am I happy. See, I was that girl 8 months ago who went back to the corporate grind after bringing my first born in to the world. My first day back, it took an hour commute, 20 minutes of sitting in front of my computer, and an encounter with the office Queen Bee "know it all" to make me ask, "What am I doing?"

I loved my job in many ways, but I was unfulfilled, empty, drained with my commute, and often asked myself at the end of the day, "What did I accomplish today that contributed somehow to this crazy world we live in?" And 99 percent of the time that answer was, 'nothing'.

I packed up my things and didn't look back. In the back of my mind I had a plan, it would just take some determination to bring it to life. I was going to put my degree to use and paint--paint like I have wanted to paint for years and years. And I was going to try to sell my work on a little website called Etsy. But I was scared and intimidated. How do I create a banner, a logo, a plan? You just have to do it.

After several months and lots of hard work, I officially have my shop up! Check it out here.  It will be ever changing and evolving, but it's a start and that's a nice beginning.

I heard something along the lines recently that volunteering, taking a class, being creative, using your talent etc., is overwhelmingly more fulfilling than any paycheck you collect.
