Westminster Fallfest: Fall Fun and Charity

You know Fallfest is all about good food, fun rides and fall activities, but did you know it's also a charity event?

In addition to providing community spirit, laughs, entertainment and food, Westminster Fallfest also supports local charities with proceeds from the annual event.

This year’s Fallfest charities are Carroll Hospice, Special Olympics, Stacey Davis Breast Cancer Fund and the Taneytown Lions Club.

The Fallfest charities provide volunteers to help run the events, which take place from Thursday night to Sunday evening in downtown Westminster, and then those charities receive a donation from Fallfest proceeds following the event.

Volunteers from each charity work at Fallfest. The Taneytown Lions Club will run the ticket booth for the amusement rides. The Stacey Davis Breast Cancer Fund will manage the “scarecrow tent” at Fallfest, where people can pay to build their own scarecrows. Special Olympics will provide sports activities, including bowling and scooters among other things, and Hospice will run the bingo tent.

Fallfest fun will kick-off Thursday with a parade on Main Street starting at 7 p.m.

Get ready to stay out late Friday for Midnight Madness as shops and restaurants on Main Street will offer Fallfest specials and stay open until midnight. Saturday and Sunday downtown will be hoppin’ as thousands of people check out the rides, live entertainment, craft vendors, contests, demonstrations and food.
