McDaniel Kicks Off Holidays with Choir Concert, Tree Lighting

The events are free and open to the public.

Get into the holiday spirit with McDaniel College's choir concert and a tree lighting ceremony.

McDaniel College will host its annual holiday College Choir Concert on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. in Baker Memorial Chapel at 2 College Hill, Westminster. It is free and open to the public.

McDaniel’s 57th annual tree lighting ceremony will follow the concert.

The McDaniel College Choir presents “A Choral Banquet” under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux, professor and department chair of the music department, with David Kreider serving as accompanist.

In addition to music from all over the world, the concert features several familiar carols during which audience participation is encouraged.

A highlight of the program is the world premiere of “Hymn to the Belly (Alte Clamat Epicurus)” composed by McDaniel alumna Justine Koontz ’09 of Eldersburg.

According to Boudreaux, “Since this program takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving, we are presenting a focus on the joys of ‘gathering together’ for a joyful feast. Themes include food, of course, and also the longings for family and community that are the reasons we set time aside for such feasts throughout the year.”
