Blog: HSP Director Thanks Partners and Community For Support

The Executive Director of Carroll County's Human Service Programs offers a huge "thanks".

I have enjoyed one heck of a ride thus far as the "fairly" new executive director of Human Services Programs of Carroll County, Inc. I have been really and truly impressed with the people who work at HSP and their level of commitment. I have said this since day one (August 1st when I started) that the HSP folks are wonderful. Some might think I am blowing smoke here, but I assure all that I am sincere in my remarks.

Coupled with the dedicated staff, has been the amazing show of support from the community and all of our partners. We have been able to initiate new approaches to old issues and it has been received with open arms.

Our efforts to improve upon how we get our message out has been fun and invigorating. We are making things happen with some creative thought and genuine desire to better our little piece of the world.

The activities surrounding a multi-faceted effort to let people know who we are, what we do and how they can help is and will continue to be a big part of our mission. We feel the more we tell people what we do, the more engaged they will become...through volunteering, participating in fundraisers, etc. There have been such great responses to date.

For example, many artists have been a part of helping us brighten our Women's Shelter walls with murals. There has been the brainstorming associated with a new playground for the toddlers in our Family Center. Interns from area high schools, Carroll Community College and McDaniel College come regularly to work with our clients. Schools and organizations are stepping up to collect much needed items that our shelters and shelter residents use everyday.

Last, but certainly not least, are our community and governmental partners who are working diligently to compliment our very distinctive services. All in all, it has created a synergy. There is a desire to be a part of something that serves the greater good. We feel it at HSP and we are hoping that those in the community continue to feel it too!!
