Family Center Provides Hope

Family Support Center gives hope to its clients

It's always important to hear the success stories that come from the efforts of those who provide basic human services to people in need. One such story is of a young mother of two who first attended the Human Services Programs' Family Center four years ago.

When she arrived, she had one infant and one toddler and was unable to finish her high school education in the conventional way. Her entry to the Family Center was one that found her hopeful and ready to tackle whatever she needed to complete the necessary requirements for a high school diploma.

The GED classes offered at the Family Center, were perfect for this young mother. She began attending almost immediately and found other classes of interest that enhanced her parental skills.

After a few months of preparation, she took the GED test and passed; earning her high school diploma.

The timing was perfect, as an opening in the child development room in the Family Center became available. This young mother applied and she was clearly the candidate of choice, so she was offered the position.

As months went by, she continued to demonstrate a solid work ethic, and ability to relate well with clients and an affinity for computers.

Since then, this young mother has increased her skills and has moved forward in the organization. She is an incredible asset to the Family Center and a perfect example of how family support can make a difference.
