Summer Concert Series Gets a Late Start

Summer Month of Sundays Concert Series

The horrendous summer heat has certainly taken its toll on activities and power. An almost week long stretch of code red and code orange days were responsible for throwing the proverbial monkey wrench into a flurry of events.

Human Services Programs first week of "Month of Sundays" was a casualty, but it was not due to the weather. An unfortunate turn of events involving a transmission and an inability to move a sound trailer from Pennsylvania to Westminster was the culprit.

We all know that Mother Nature can rear her ugly head whenever she darn well pleases, but it's just a little tougher to take when things happen that we feel are within our control.

Be that as it may, our July 1 concert featuring "Say Chance" did not have the debut we were greatly anticipating. So, it is even more important that music lovers looking for a little musical delight on a Sunday evening come out and join us at the Westminster City Park this Sunday, July 8 at 6:45 pm.

It's a double your pleasure night with two great local acts sharing the evening. Kicking things off will be "Middle Sister," an acoustic pop group. The second part of the show will be "Child of Mischief," featuring Chris Swam and Greg Gottlieb.

The next week, July 15th is "Mason Vixon," an original country music band. Mason Vixon will have folks clapping and singing with their riveting renditions of many popular favorites as well as their own great tunes.

On July 22, Carroll County's old friend, Patty Reese will bring a variety of original roots, blues, rock and soul music to the city park stage.

Last, but certainly not least, on July 29, "The Fabulous Hubcaps" will close out the month long series with their timeless presentation of the most loved oldies.

The Month of Sundays concert series offers something for every music lover and the good cause it supports is worth the trip alone. The price is right as it is free to the public. The only offering requested is something to share as a donation. All items are for the use of our low income and at risk population. Some ideas for donations include:personal care items for all ages, baby food, diapers, formula, paper goods or cleaning supplies.

Sooooo.....mark those calendars and we will see you at the Westminster City Park for four more Sundays of great musical entertainment and support of a wonderful cause!
