Want to diversify your work force? Consider the JPN!

The Job Placement Network of Carroll County is working hard to support our local citizens in securing stable employment.  One of the many aspects of the community that we serve is the employment of individuals with disabilities.
Despite advocacy efforts, the employment rate of people with disabilities has remained virtually unchanged.  Yet, employees with disabilities have one of the highest retention rates in the labor market!  Turnover is costly to businesses, and increasing the retention of qualified staff means decreasing the expense of hiring and training.
There are multiple benefits to individuals, families, businesses and communities when a person with a disability is hired in competitive employment.  For the new employee, there is an increased sense of self-confidence, improved social skills, marked improvement in independence and economic stability, and a feeling of pride and self-sufficiency.  These traits are common to all of us - disabled or not - and accompany the very basic needs of each of us to be able to support ourselves and our families.
For the business, they gain a diversified workforce, a committed employee, a dependable worker, a well-trained individual with a built in support system, and a talented applicant who has been pre-screened for the position.  Businesses are also eligible for both federal and state tax incentives.
Communities who include disabled citizens in the work force also gain.  Disabled employees become advocates for themselves, pay taxes on their income, and improve the community's understanding and acceptance of disabled individuals.
If you are interested in hiring an individual with a disability, would like a pool of pre-screened and qualified candidates for your next vacancy, or want to support other individuals in their job search, the Job Placement Network is here for you!   jobplacementnetwork@gmail.com
