Blog: Think Beyond Valentine's Day, Plan a Romantic Getaway

Local blogger and travel agent shares five great romantic travel destinations.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

By now I am sure everyone has made their donation to Hallmark for their special Valentine card and has put in their orders for flowers and heart shaped chocolates. Although Valentine’s Day has good intentions, I can’t say that I have been a huge fan of the holiday.

I believe that you should show that special someone that you love them as often as possible not just on a day marked on the calendar. Receiving flowers out of the blue perhaps after a trying week or being surprised with a babysitter to have a dinner together without the kids. Now you are talking!

More importantly as busy as we all are it is so important to take time to spend with each other. No, falling asleep on the same couch doesn’t count. We are all over worked, over tired and just plain over booked. We all need to disconnect from everyday life and get away with the one we love.

My husband and I will be married 10 years this fall and I can honestly say that we do make an effort to get away just the two of us as much as we can. Granted it isn’t every year but when we do get away it is great to spend quality time together.

Here is a list of popular romantic destinations to get your planning started.
