Julie Goge opened the fashionable and delicious J Café in September 2011. Since that time, waistlines everywhere groan – while palettes rejoice – at J’s incredible cupcakes.  But like your mother said, it’s important to eat your meal before dessert, and J’s breakfast and lunch entrees will not disappoint you.  In the morning, enter the Café to the enticing aroma of homemade waffles and perhaps the essence remaining from the cupcakes cooling the corner. Lunchtime is filled with fresh salads and daily specials.  And don’t forget to save room for dessert!

During Restaurant Week, J Cafe offers the following menu selection, where two people can enjoy a starter, sandwich or wrap and dessert for $20.12:

Starters:

Seasonal fresh fruit

J’s House Salad

Panini and Wraps:

Grilled Roast Beef Wrap

Caprese Panini

Spinach and Feta Wrap

Cheese and Bacon Panini

Desserts:

Chocolate chunk, oatmeal raisin or white chip macadamia nut cookies

Specialty cupcakes

Papa Heinz Luesse traveled the world on a merchant marine ship, baking for his fellow sailors and sharing his delectable treats seaside.  Years later, the
German-born baker arrived in Westminster and opened Heinz Bakery in 1972.
Residents from Westminster and beyond are thankful for his emigration – “regulars” can be found reading the paper, relaxing and enjoying a fresh cup of hot coffee and scrumptious donut each morning. “Our most popular offerings are our Christmas stollen, summer peach cakes and of course, our amazing donuts,” says Jim Caputo, a rising baker at the restaurant.

Four types of bread are baked each day at the bakery, which is available for sale or to become a mouthwatering sandwich for breakfast or lunch. While Papa Heinz still occasionally bakes for the restaurant, the baking mitt has been passed to Papa’s son, who is also named Heinz.  The staff is known for its welcoming service. Count on Heinz’s staff to remember you – and what you ordered last – on any repeat visit.

During Restaurant Week, Heinz Bakery offers the following menu selections for $5.12:

Any regular breakfast sandwich plus any pastry (excluding éclairs) and any beverage. A  BLT, tuna melt, ham or turkey sandwich with chips or donut and any beverage.
