Obituary: Steven Anthony Schaffer

Steven Anthony Schaffer, 62, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his home.

Born July 30, 1951 in Manhattan, New York, he was the son of the late Andrew and Filomena Apuzzo Schaffer. He was the husband of Kathryn Schaffer. They had been married for 41 years.

He worked for the NRC in the research dept.   He received his doctorate in Environmental Medicine from New York University. He was a former member of the Freedom District Lions Club and a current member of HAPHS.   He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was happily anticipating the arrival of another this fall.  His hobbies and favorite things included windsurfing, fishing, boating, and spending time with family and friends at the family’s beach home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Carianne Judge and husband James, Sharon Scarborough and husband Michael, sons Scott and Casey Schaffer, sisters Vivienne DeSimone and husband Vincent and Andrea Maisel and husband Richard. He is also survived by three beloved grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
