Your Local Patch Editor Behind the Bar and On the Track

Admit it, you've been dying to meet your local Patch editor Kym Byrnes. Well shine your shoes, the time has come.

I am your local editor and even though my picture is on the homepage of Westminster Patch and even though I am out in the community almost every day and even though I have emailed with or spoken to a gazillion (well it seems like it) Patch users, I know there are a still a bunch of you that I have never had the opportunity to meet in person.

All that may change this week. I have a goal to meet every Westminster Patch reader this week. I realize this is ambitious but I like a good challenge.

In all seriousness, I am going to be participating in two very important local events on Thursday and Friday. You should consider stopping in at one or both of the events and saying hi to your local Patch editor.

On Thursday I will be a guest bartender at , 4 West Main St., for the 11th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and there will be a silent auction, raffles and karoake. I have to say I'm just a little excited about being on the other side of the bar for an hour. I'll be the gal in the bright green Patch shirt.

On Friday, May 18, I will be at the for the American Cancer Society's annual . This event is near and dear to my heart. I started a Relay team, five years ago when my mother was battling stomach cancer. The team remains strong in spite of my mother passing away three years ago. If you have ever been touched by cancer, you have to attend this event.

I will be at the event--walking, eating, buying, talking, taking photos, laughing, crying, for most of the evening. Then I will also be speaking at the closing ceremonies at 7 a.m. Saturday morning (it's an all night event). Please join us, if you're there look for the Team Donna Griffith team captain and say hi!

I will see you around town, hopefully at one of these worthy causes later this week.
