Sheriff: Driver in Cardiac Arrest Crashed into Carroll Hospital Center (Updated)

A man died as a result of the cardiac arrest he suffered while driving, law enforcement officials said.

A car crashed into Carroll Hospital Center Monday morning after a driver went into cardiac arrest and lost control of his vehicle, Carroll County Sheriff’s officials said.

The man driving the vehicle, Thomas Carl Skipper JR, 78, died as a result of the medical emergency he suffered, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.

No one else was in the car and there were no other injuries, according to police.

Police said the hospital sustained minor damage.

Carroll Hospital Center officials would not comment Monday on the extent of the damage to the building, but said a county building inspector will assess it.
