Carroll County's Most Wanted

Darrell Dwight Smith 2nd is wanted for failure to obey an order of the court. Smith is a black male, six-feet tall, weighing 170 pounds. He has a tattoo on his neck, and his last known address is 1417 Wakefield Valley Rd. in New Windsor.

Shannon Leigh Hoffman is wanted for failure to appear for a contempt hearing on child support. Hoffman is a white female, five-feet seven inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes, and her last known address was 7 Chase St. Westminster.

  • Joseph Dwayne Caudill of Cape Hill Court in Hampstead was charged in Howard County with eight counts that include attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, burglary and assault. According to police reports, Caudill entered the home of a female acquaintance in Howard County and after raping and assaulting her, told her he was going to kill her and then himself. The victim eventually escaped and called for help. The victim was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and Caudill was taken to Howard County General Hospital for a hand wound which police said was a self-inflicted gun wound from when he tried to commit suicide earlier that day.
  • Just before midnight Sept. 13, police say Joseph Jerome Page Jr., 34, of Taneytown, forced his way into an acquaintance's home in the 500 block of Willow Avenue in Taneytown. According to a sheriff's report, Page punched the homeowner in the face before threatening him with a handgun. The homeowner was able to push Page from the residence and police say Page fled the area. Page and a man he was with fled the scene.
