Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Extra Force for St. Paddy's Day

The Sheriff's Office reminds motorists to "be careful" this weekend.

Sheriff’s Deputies and State Troopers will be out in extra force in Carroll County on St. Patrick’s Day to protect motorists from drunk, drugged and aggressive drivers.

"With celebrations a historical part of the St. Patrick’s Holiday, law enforcement leaders are alerting motorists that a saturation patrol will be in place throughout the Holiday weekend to identify and remove impaired drivers from the road," read a press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. 

According to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 37 percent of traffic fatalities on St. Paddy's Day involved alcohol-impaired drivers with blood alcohol concentrations of .08 percent or higher.

Residents are urged to avoid consuming alcoholic beverages or designate a sober driver before consuming any alcohol, use good judgment and celebrate safely.
