Deer Park Road Car Accident Kills 17-Year-Old

Police report that one teen died and two young men were transported to Shock Trauma.

Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, police report that a car lost control on Deer Park Road in Westminster, killing a 17-year-old passenger.

According to a report from the Sheriff's Office, driver Nicolas Ryan Gaetani, 18, lost control of the Grand Marquis he was driving at Deer Park Road at Jeffras Court. Police said they believe he failed to negotiate a curve and crossed over the double yellow lane divider at which time his car was struck on the passenger side by a Dodge Neon.

Seventeen-year-old Michael McVerry, a passenger in Gaetani's car, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel, according to police.

According to ABC2news.com, he was a student at Westminster High School.

Gaetani was transported to Shock Trauma via medevac with non-life threatening injuries.

The Dodge Neon was occupied by a driver, Levi Jared Malcolm, 21, who was transported to Shock Trauma via medevac with non-life threatening injuries, police report.

Police said that upon arrival to the scene, both cars were resting off the road in the yard of a nearby residence. The Grand Marquis sustained extensive passanger side damage and the Dodge Neon had heavy front end damage.

Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the cause of the collision.
