UPDATE: Deputy Hospitalized After Serious Car Collision

Carroll County officials are investigating.

Carroll County Sheriff's Department Master Deputy Matthew Wilson was released from Shock Trauma Tuesday evening after receiving treatment for the injuries sustained in an afternoon collision on Rt. 140.

Darian Barron, the driver of the Dodge pick-up truck also in the collision, was issued citations for failure to yield right-of-way, negligent driving and driving on a suspended registration. He was issued the citations at the scene and released.

A Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma Tuesday afternoon after a serious car crash in Carroll County.

Officials said that at about 3:12 p.m., a Dodge RAM 1500 pulled out in front of deputy Matthew Wilson’s patrol car while making a left turn from Mayberry Road on Eastbound Route 140.

The vehicles collided, officials said. Wilson, a five-year veteran of the Carroll County Sheriff’s office, was taken to the University of Maryland Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

The driver and the passenger of the Dodge RAM refused treatment, law enforcement officials said.

Officials said they are continuing to investigate and anyone with information or who witnessed the crash should call Corporal Webb  at 410-386-2900.
