Eldersburg Car Accident Leaves One Dead

A 35-year-old male succumbed to injuries from the accident at Carroll Hospital Center.

A 35-year-old man died Saturday afternoon from injuries sustained when he was ejected from his Jeep during a two-vehicle collision in Eldersburg.

Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Johnsonville Road and Piney Ridge around 1:15 pm. When they arrived, they found crews from the Sykesville Fire Department treating 35-year-old Leif Erik Foerter, according to police.

Foerter was transported to Carroll Hospital Center where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a police report.

Police said a Honda Accord traveling west on Piney Ridge Parkway entered into the intersection of Johnsville Road where it struck a north bound Jeep Wrangler. As a result of this collision, Foerter, who was driving the Jeep Wrangler, was ejected after impact.

The operator of the Honda Accord was transported to Carroll Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police reports.

Speed, not alcohol, is considered to be a factor in the collision, police said.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, according to police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Corporal Jeff Miller at 410-386-5900

The facts of the incident are: Erik's vehicle had the right of way, Daniel failed to stop at a stop sign. Although Daniel did not intend to be involved in an accident, Daniel's negligence was the contributing factor in the death of Erik. Erik's family is in mourning because of this tragic loss and Daniel's family is naturally being protective of him. These ongoing comments will not help either of these families heal, nor will they help resolve this feud. I wish all of the family members and loved ones involved well, and the strength to get through these very difficult times.
