Lawn Mower Accident Sends Man to Shock Trauma

The man remains in serious but stable condition.

A 73-year-old Westminster man was injured Tuesday when the lawn mower he was riding hit a stump, overturned and pinned the man under the machine, sheriff's officials said.

According to sheriff's deputies, Gilbert Barnes was transported to the University of Maryland Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Barnes reportedly was mowing on a hillside in the 1300 block of Tannery Hill Road just before 11 a.m. when the mower overturned, pinning his left leg underneath.
