Man Charged in Golf Club Assault on Visitor

The victim was treated and released from Carroll Hospital Center.

Police have charged a man in an attack in which they said that a golf club was used to repeatedly hit another man and his car while parked in a driveway.

Troopers from the Westminster State Police Barrack responded to the 2600 block of Baltimore Blvd. in Westminster Monday evening for a reported assault.

The victim, who was transported to Carroll Hospital Center, told police that he was attacked after pulling into his friend's driveway.

Police report that a vehicle pulled into the driveway behind the victim. The victim was still sitting in his vehicle when the driver of the other vehicle, Josh Lee Wagner, walked toward the victim and began yelling at him, police said.

Police said the alleged assailant pulled out a golf club and began hitting the driver’s side window of the victim’s vehicle.  After breaking the window, he began striking the victim in the head with the golf club, police said.

The victim suffered numerous contusions and bruises.  Wagner got back into his vehicle and left the scene.  Police report that the residence at which the victim had parked belongs to Wagner's ex-wife. 

Just after midnight on Tuesday, Feb. 14, police charged Wagner with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property. 

The victim was treated at Carroll Hospital Center and released.

Troopers are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information in reference to the case to contact Lt. Dewees at the Westminster Barrack at 410-386-3000.
