Man Flown to Shock Trauma after Sustaining Head Injuries Outside Rafael's (Update 5/31)

Police said it appears to have been an accident.

Capt. Gerry Frischkorn of the Westminster Police Department said that the man injured in a parking lot next to Rafael's was Shawn McDonald, 26, of Patricia Court in Manchester.  McDonald was treated and released from Shock Trauma.

Story as originally reported:
A 26-year-old male was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center at approximately 10 p.m. Sunday with head injuries suffered after leaving Rafael's Restaurant on Main Street. 

Westminster police Sgt. Thomas Kowalczyk, who was at the scene, said preliminary findings suggest the victim may have fallen. He said it appears to have been an accident.

Kowalczyk said police would not release the name of the individual until family had been notified. 

A Rafael's employee said that two men were horsing around in the parking lot next to Rafael's and they fell backwards. She said the men had left the bar a few minutes prior to the incident.
