Man Sent to Shock Trauma After Crashing Car into House

A passenger was sent to Carroll Hospital Center.

Two people were hurt and one transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center when a car left the roadway and hit a house outside of Westminster Tuesday afternoon, according to police reports.

When police responded to the accident in the 200 block of Black Schoolhouse Road at approximately 3 p.m., they found a 2000 Chevrolet station wagon had left the roadway and struck a home.  

The driver, 30-year-old Jonathan Sweitzer of Littlestown, PA, was transported to Shock Trauma where he is being treated for his injuries according to a police report.

A passenger, 29-year-old Jared Smith of Babylon Road in Taneytown, was taken to the Carroll Hospital Center and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.  

Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Master Deputy Jeff Miller at 410-386-2900.  The investigation continues, and charges are pending the outcome of that investigation.
