New Year's Eve Fire Causes $500,000 in Damage

The fire remains under investigation.

The state fire marshal said that a New Year's Eve fire in Key Mar caused $500,000 in damages to two Carroll County businesses.

About 100 firefighters spent two hours fighting the fire at the commercial building in the 1000 block of Francis Scott Key Highway, according to a state fire marshal news release.

The fire, which started just before 6 p.m., damaged a building occupied by Key Mar Tire Outlet and J.P. Donmoyer Trucking Company.

Officials say there were no injuries in the two-alarm fire. How and where the fire started is still under investigation.

Twenty fire companies from Carroll County, Frederick County and Pennsylvania responded to provide mutual aid to the Union Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.
