Not So Sweet: Two Men Charged in Robbery of Hoffman's Ice Cream Shop

Police said no weapon was displayed and no one was injured.

Two Westminster men have been charged in connection to a robbery at Hoffman's Ice Cream Shop on Washington Rd., according to the Maryland State Police.

Police said that on Jan. 17 shortly after 3:30 p.m., a male suspect approached employees at the ice cream store and threatened to shoot one of them if she did not give him the money in the register. The employee surrendered an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect fled the store on foot, police said.

No weapon was displayed and, according to police, no one was injured.

The Maryland State Apprehension Team was called for assistance with a regional search for the suspects. Both suspects were by the fugitive team were found at a hotel in Baltimore County, police said. They were arrested without incident and returned to Carroll County. 

Christopher G. Sorger, 35, and Danielle L. Frederick, 32, of Westminster are both suspects charged with armed robbery, robbery, first degree assault, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to police reports. 

State Police investigators identified Sorger as the man who threatened the store clerk. Police said Frederick assisted in the crime.
