One Dead in Three Vehicle Accident on Rt. 140

Rt. 140 was closed for hours Friday afternoon.

One person is dead as a result of a three-vehicle collision on MD Rt. 140 between Sandymount Road and Bethel Road Friday afternoon. A Maryland State Police representative confirmed that a 71-year-old man died in the accident that happened at about 2 p.m.

An article in the Carroll County Times reports that a maroon car was traveling west on MD 140 when it crossed the median and struck another car traveling east on MD 140.  After striking the eastbound car, the maroon car then collided with a pick-up truck, also traveling east on Md. 140, according to the Times report.

Each vehicle had one occupant according to the Times.

The accident shut down MD 140 in both directions while the state police Medevac helicopter landed and police conducted an investigation.

This article will be updated as police release more details.

first and foremost my heart goe's out to the family and friends of the deceases gentleman ! ROUTE 140 TO 795 SHOULD HAVE A BARRIER INSTALLED SIMILAR TO THE NEW ONES ON 795,THIS WOULD PREVENT SUCH FATALITIES!!!!!!!!!!

Don't need more barriers. Can't prevent everything. Those barriers they put up look like garbage and are not worth the money they cost.
Heart goes out to the family, sorry for your loss.

Plus, they prevent police, fire and rescue from making u turns when needed in important calls.
This type of accident happens once every few years. Life and death calls are dispatched multiple times a week......................more lives save with those silly barriers.

Congratulations graduates! May you be as successful in the next part of your journey as you were atRead More St. John School.

I don't live in your district and I am not a member of your party. I have watched you during yourRead More meetings with the commissioners and you handle things very well. You have a balance of private and public sector experience which is a necessary background to have to guide the county. It will be nice to have a competent person with your qualifications to run against someone who is totally unqualified but never had any opposition in the last election. Now she will have to attend the voter forums and explin her views and positions. Let the chips fall where they may. The emperor will have no clothes.

Wow, this is great news. Hopefully, 1 down and 4 to go!! Make sure Frazier shows up at theRead More political forums this time. She chose to miss every one last time, so she did not have to answer questions on her positions and her horrible record the first time around in 1998-2002. She will try to do that again to get re-elected.

If Frazier runs for reelection in 2014, I hope someone will have the nerve to ask her pointblank, onRead More camera, about her relationship to Roscoe Bartlett. Folks who've been around Carroll County for a while know the answer: there is no relation. She just tacked that on when she decided to run the first time. It may be her maiden name - or not - but she has never bothered to answer the question. She just let folks assume there is a connection, and lots of folks fell for it.
