(Update) Plane Crashes at Carroll County Regional Airport

Police said the plane crashed around 10 a.m. Friday morning.

Update 12:08 p.m.
According to a WBAL 11 News report, the Cessna airplane that crashed at Carroll County Regional Airport Friday morning was registered to a police department in Fresno, Calif.

WBAL reported that the plane was apparently attempting to make an emergency landing after having some technical difficulties.

The pilot was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition.

The Maryland State Police confirmed that a plane crashed at Carroll County Regional Airport Friday morning.

PFC Luzier of the Westminster Barrack of the Maryland State Police said that a call for a plane crash came in just after 10 a.m. Friday morning, June 15.

Luzier said it appears that there was one plane involved and one pilot. He said the pilot was being transported via helicopter to receive medical treatment.

There is no information yet on the flight plan and the pilot's name has not been released at this time.

The Maryland State Police are on scene. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been called. Luzier said the FAA is expected to be on scene by noon.
