Police Dog Bites Suspect in Perry Hall Yard

An alleged burglar was taken to Franklin Square Hospital Center with minor injuries.

A police dog bit a man before he was arrested in the yard of a Perry Hall home last week, Baltimore County police said.

Police responded to a reported along the unit block of Roxburgh Court shortly after 4:30 p.m. Oct. 6. An officer, joined by a K-9, searched the home's yard and found a man hiding under lawn furniture, according to the police report.

The officer asked the man to come out of hiding and warned him that a K-9 was assisting. The K-9 was "sent to apprehend him" and the dog then bit the man, the police report states.

Police arrested Luis Manuel Alvarado, 32, of the unit block of Eddystone Place in Essex, and charged him with theft less than $1,000, court records show. 

Alvarado was taken to with minor injuries, said Lt. Ron Brooks of the .

"If the officer announces that it's police K-9, you've been given fair notice. We may utilize the K-9 at that point," Brooks said.
