Police Investigate Body Found in Carroll County Monday

The partially decomposed body of a white male has been sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.

Maryland State Police are investigating the discovery of a body in a wooded area in Carroll County.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Monday, investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit were called to the 300 block of Kirkhoff Road in Westminster in reference to a body found in the wooded area.  

Investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff Department were conducting a search of the area as they were attempting to locate a person reported missing.  During their search, a partially decomposed body was found. 

The body was described as that of a white male.  The cause and manner of death is unknown at this time, police said.  The body was transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.  Identification of the deceased is not expected until after completion of the autopsy.   

Maryland State Police Homicide investigators are working together with investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.
