Police: Man Wanted for Forcefully Entering a Westminster Home Monday

The victim was not hurt and no property was taken from the home, according to police.

Police said they are looking for a man who forced entry into a Westminster home Monday while a woman was in the home alone. 

On Monday, July 22 at approximately 4:30 p.m. police said they received a call from a woman in the 600 block of Spring Meadow Drive reporting that someone broke into her home.

The male suspect came to the front door on foot and rang the doorbell several times before going to the rear of the house where he forced his way in through a rear door, according to police reports.   He was armed with a crow bar at the time.

Once inside he confronted the victim who fled the home through a rear door and called the police, police said.  The suspect left the home on foot before police arrived.  

There were no injuries as a result of this incident and police don't believe the suspect took any property from the home.

Police officers from the Westminster Police Department, Maryland State Police and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, to include a police canine team and the Maryland State Police Helicopter, assisted in the search for the suspect.  The suspect currently remains at large, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, bald and clean shaven.  He is five feet, 10 inches to six feet tall and has a muscular build.  He was wearing sunglasses, a tan hat, white shirt and green shorts at the time of the incident, according to police reports.

A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.  Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact the case investigator, Detective Corporal Jeffrey Schuster of the Westminster Police Department, by calling (410) 848-4646.
