Police Reveal Identity of Body Found in Woods

The body belonged to a man who had been reported missing on Monday.

Police have identified the decomposing body of a male found in Carroll County Thursday as 27-year-old Joshua White of Westminster.

According to police, White’s family reported him missing to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

White's body was found just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, in a wooded area behind his residence on Kirkhoof Road in Westminster, police said. The body was found when the police were searching for the missing man.

When found, White was dressed in a tee shirt and shorts.  He was not wearing shoes at the time, police said.  There was no identification found in White’s clothing or in the immediate area where he was found.

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.  The cause and manner of death is pending the results of the toxicology report and other testing, police said.  There were no obvious signs of foul play, according to investigators.

Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit are working in conjunction with investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.  They are conducting interviews and examining all evidence collected at the scene, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
