Police Search for Five Suspects in Christmas Eve Assault

The Westminster Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with the investigation of an assault which occurred in Belle Grove Square (West Green Street and Bond Street) at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 24. 

According to a news release, the victim reported that he was accosted by a group of approximately 5 young black males as he walked through the park.  The victim was knocked to the ground and held down by members of the group.  During the assault one of the suspects cut the victim lightly on the stomach with a box cutter or similar tool.  The victim suffered several small scratches on his stomach during the assault which did not require treatment. 

Police said that they believe the suspects were familiar with the victim and it is not believed that this was a random assault.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this assault.  Anyone with information relating to this investigation is requested to contact Detective Eric Immler of the Westminster Police Department at (410) 848-3918.
