Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver Who Struck Woman Pushing Stroller

Westminster Police Department officials are searching for an SUV driver who fled the scene after striking a pedestrian pushing a baby stroller near a Westminster parking lot Friday afternoon.

The Westminster Police Department has put a call out to the public for help in tracking down an SUV driver who fled the scene after striking a woman who was pushing a baby stroller in Westminster Friday afternoon, Sept. 30. The woman suffered minor injuries; the baby was uninjured.

According to the department, police were called to Distillery Drive for the report of a hit and run accident at approximately 1:43 p.m.

The release states that a female pedestrian was pushing a baby stroller containing a 2-year-old when she was struck; the child was not injured. The pedestrian received minor injuries and was transported to Carroll Hospital Center for treatment.

According to Deputy Chief Ron Stevens, the woman was near a crosswalk at the Sherwood parking lot.

“She was crossing from the parking lot side of the street to the side of the street where Paradiso’s is located,” Stevens said. “She was not exactly in the crosswalk when she got hit but she was very close to it; the person should have stopped.”

While the name of the victim has not been released, Stevens said the woman pushing the stroller was the baby’s aunt.

According to the police press release, the vehicle was a dark blue SUV with the No. 6 in the license plate. The vehicle was last seen making a left turn onto Railroad Avenue from Distillery Drive.

According to the release, the individual operating the SUV is being described as an older white male with a full beard and wearing a John Deer hat.
