Sheriff Charges Man in Taneytown Stabbing

Police have charged a 23-year-old man for stabbing that took place in Taneytown in March.

s Detectives have charged Brian Keith McIntyre, 23, with first degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon for the March 3 assault on a Westminster man during a private party at a Taneytown home.

Police said they were called to Carroll Hospital Center on March 3 at approximately 4:30 a.m. for a patient suffering from a stab wound to his lower back.  According to police, the victim, a 26-year-old Westminster man, had gotten stabbed while removing unwelcome visitors from a party in a home on Bull Frog Road outside of Taneytown.

Police said the victim was transported by a friend to and later relocated to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The injury was not life threatening and he was released following treatment.

At the time of initial report, the suspects were unknown. Acting on tips, sheriff’s detectives later identified McIntyre and during the execution of a search and seizure warrant, recovered a knife that is believed to have been used during the assault, according to police.

McIntyre is currently being held at Carroll County Central Booking while awaiting a bail review hearing before the district court commissioner.

The sheriff’s office investigation continues.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Mark Devilbiss at 410-386-2577.
