Sheriff Investigates Forcible Break-In on Chanter Drive

The is investigating a series of burglaries on Chanter Drive in Westminster.

On Thursday, April 26, the homeowner of 828 Chanter Dr. returned to her home around 11 a.m. and found a strange vehicle in her garage.

When she exited her vehicle, police said a male suspect grabbed the homeowner and moved her into her home. There was also a woman suspect who entered the home.

According to police, the suspect did not display a weapon nor did he say he would hurt the victim in any way. The supect is described as a light-skinned black male approximately 5'8" tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood covering his head.

The female suspect is described by police as light-skinned black woman in her twenties. Police said she was also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood covering her head.

According to police, the suspects had already stolen items including televisions from the home. They left the home in the car that had been parked in the garage, a black Dodge Avenger with Virginia registration.

The victim told police that the male suspect said to her, "We are really good people."

The victim sustained no injuries and was able to call 911 after the suspects left the home.

In canvassing the neighborhood, police said it was discovered that there was also an attempt at 829 Chanter Dr. but no entry was made.

Sheriff's investigators are saying they don't believe a burglary at 830 Chanter Dr. on April 25 is related. In that break-in, items stolen include jewelry and coins. A white female suspect was located and admitted to stealing some of the items police said. Charges are pending.
