Sheriff's Deputy Graduates from FBI Academy
Congratulations to Lt. Richard Hart of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
Lieutenant Richard Hart of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy for law enforcement leaders in Quantico, Virginia.
The 247th Session of the National Academy, which graduated on Friday Dec. 16, was comprised of 269 law enforcement officers from 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, 25 international countries, three military departments and two federal law enforcement agencies, according to a news release.
The National Academy Program consists of ten weeks of advanced investigative, management and fitness schooling for selected police executives having proven records as professionals within their agencies. All of the courses are accredited by the University of Virginia, who administrates the crediting process from an office on the FBI Academy Campus. Instruction is provided by FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise, the news release reports.

Lieutenant Hart returned to duty Monday morning where he resumes responsibility for daily supervision of the Criminal Investigation Division.
Lieutenant Hart is a former Prince Georges County Police Officer. He retired from Prince George's after serving twenty years as a patrol officer, criminal investigator and supervisor. Lieutenant Hart was awarded a Gold and Bronze Medal of Valor from the Prince Georges County Police.

Since joining the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in May 2005, Lieutenant Hart has served as a Patrol Deputy, Detective, Shift Supervisor and most recently as Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division.
