Tactical Assault Team Called to Manchester Home After Shots Fired

Police said there were no injuries in the incident.

A Manchester man was arrested at his home early Sunday after shooting a gun and passing out. 

Police said that at about 3:45 a.m., Jordan A. Ecker, 31, of the 4200 block of Hanover Pike in Manchester, showed up at his home intoxicated. For unknown reasons, he became agitated and fired one shot into a wall and another into the floor. No one was injured, police said.

Police said Ecker passed out in the home a short time later. A friend in the residence then secured the two assault weapons and two handguns in Ecker’s possession, police said.

Believing there were additional weapons were in the house, Maryland State police troopers and deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff Department established a perimeter and called for the Special Tactical Assault Team Element and State Police Hostage Recovery Team negotiators, police said.

Shortly before 7 a.m., members of the State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element entered the home. Police said Ecker was arrested without further incident. There were no injuries sustained during the incident. 

Ecker was taken into custody for an emergency petition and transported to Carroll Hospital Center for evaluation, according to police. Once released, he will be charged with reckless endangerment.

Hanover Pike was closed for approximately three and half hours due to the incident.
