Teenager Dies in Single Car Accident

Police said the driver likely lost control of her car during a rain storm.

 

Just after 1 a.m. today, Carroll County sheriff’s deputies responded to Poole Road south of Sykesville Road for a single vehicle accident involving a 16-year-old female from Westminster.  

According to a news release, deputies said they discovered that the driver had apparently lost control of the Toyota Corolla during a heavy rain and struck a tree.

Police said the driver, who was not identified, was found deceased at the scene by rescue personnel from the Gamber Community Fire Company as a result of injuries she sustained during the collision.

Sheriff's Office Collision Investigators are reconstructing the events that led to the accident, a process that could take several weeks. Police say weather and speed are believed to be factors in this collision.
