Thieves Target Unlocked Cars in Westminster Neighborhood

Valuables were stolen from several cars in Westminster Thursday morning.

Early Thursday morning, thieves stole GPS Units, cash, cell phones and accessories from 17 different vehicles parked in the neighborhood which includes, Denton Drive, Fairfield Ave., Mary Ave. and Franklin Ave. according to a news release.    

The vehicles were parked and left unlocked in view of several residences, but thieves were still able to leave the area undetected police said. The approximate value of the stolen goods is $2500.

Police urge residents to roll-up car windows, lock car doors and remove valuables from site when leaving vehicles unattended.  Also, residents are asked to report unfamiliar vehicles and persons roaming neighborhoods and parking lots during the late evening and early morning hours. 

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the thefts. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-2900, or the toll free anonymous TIPS Hotline at 1-888-399-TIPP (8477).
